Predated Envelope

Unusual envelopes with a single Lacemaking stamp (point ground), bearing a bullseye wavy line machine cancellation and postmark of April 13, 1987, Hampton Roads, VA. This was one day before the actual issuance of the stamps. The letters are addressed to Mr. E. R. Brown, Jr., of Virginia Beach.

Business-size #10 sealed envelope, 9-1/2” x 4-3/16”. One  is slit open at the top and contains 2 blank 8” x 10-1/2” sheets folded in thirds, with the letterhead of the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Weather Service. The other envelopes are sealed, and appear to also contain folded sheets.
