Artcraft and the Postal Commerative Society The ArtCraft brand was first introduced by Washington Stamp Exchange (now The Washington Press) in 1939. The company is based in Florham Park, NJ. These two rag-stock #6-3/4 (6-1/2" x 3-11/16") addressed envelopes each have two of the stamps, “First Day of Issue” cancellations and postmarks, and addresses. The cachet was designed for the Postal Commemorative Society and is not the same as the standard ArtCraft cachet for the Lacemaking stamps. The grey print cachet shows two different designs of bobbinlace in the making. Postal Commemorative Society addressed envelopes with Artcraft cachets each with 2 Lacemaking stamps inserted into two 8” x 9-7/8” sheets with explanatory text. PCS Stamps and Coins is a division of MBI, Inc., which began business in 1969 as “The Danbury Mint”, a subsidiary of Glendinning Companies. The PCS Stamps & Coins division began in 1970 marketing US First Day of Issue covers, and is now the largest organization in the philatelic field (according to them). MBI has a web site at http://www.mbi-inc.com. first posted 1/10/2009 |
