Kribbs' Kover, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Single unaddressed #6-3/4 (6-5/8" x 3-5/8") envelope with block of 4 stamps. “First Day of Issue” cancellation and postmark.

Ken and Angie Kribbs chose to illustrate a spinner for the lacemaking cachet, although she is surrounded by a ring of small lace motifs (machine-made). This cover is #19 out of 25. It has an insert with a description of lacemaking history. Note the reference to the Brunswick Stamp Company on the insert. I do see a not too old (2004) posting on a website by Ken Kribbs which I repeat below:

As to myself, we were recognized by the American First Day Cover Society (AFDCS) (until recently when we retired from drawing due to health) as being the longest, continuous cachetmaker for hand drawn (one-at-a-time) cachets and the hand painting them for virtually ALL USPS stamps and envelopes from 1978-1999. Our FDCs were known as Kribbs' Kovers and our postal cards as Kribbs' Kards.
Ken Kribbs, Sr, 102 Crystal Cove, Brunswick, GA 31525-2455

Another web site gives Ken's age in 2004 as 77. Kribbs' apparently did work for other cachet makers, see House of Farnam Lacemaking Stamp example.
