Chantilly Bertha

44" neckline, ~7" deep.
Excellent condition. Removed from blue cloth backing.

Chantilly bertha with a design of Iris?and roses. Probably Belgian due to heavier, blacker thread (but not much). Chantilly berthas are rare.

Provenance reads:
Britta, This black lace "bertha" belonged to your grandmother, Thilda, who got it from your father after one of his trips abroad. You have loved it, as I have, form many years at Oakholm.

(Oakholm might mean Oakhom Farm near Sturbridge, Mass., which was purchased by George Jeppson in 1925. He was of Swedish decent, and the names in the note might also be Swedish.)
