Flemish Pottery Lacemaker marked GJM

6-1/2" high, 5-1/2" long, 3" wide

Maker is G. J. Monteyne from Brugge. The initials G.J.M. are inscribed in the space below the lower chair rung at the back of the piece. Late 20th century

Nicely modeled piece with beautiful colors and flame markings. Even the inside of the piece, visible from underneath, has yellow glaze, and the walls are fairly thin. She sits a bit low for comfort, but that is a feature of a lot of these figures This maker is known for his care. Note the pincushion on the pillow, and the careful detail of the support stand.

One corner of the base broke off at some point, but has been repaired nicely. Otherwise intact.
