Belgian Mixed Needlelace bertha

Very good condition, a few pinholes in the PtdG mesh. Beige color. Three black dots in mesh of one PtdG insert, compromising the mesh. Several small areas of brown staining.

Combination 'Venise' and Point de Gaze. Each Point de Gaze insert has a raised petal rose, one bud, and some leaves and rings. Raised work outside these inserts is dense with areas of complex jours and clothwork. Good, fine technique with extensive raised cordonnets, sometimes sculpted.

Ex. coll. Debra Bonito, author of the book "Graced by Lace". She was a lace author and textile collector and dealer who visited Japan three times to lecture on the subject. She once appeared on Martha Stewart to talk about cleaning linens.
