Point d'Eeckent collar

neckline 26" (63.5cm), center depth 6" (15.24cm), tips 16" (40.64cm) apart
Very Good condition. Areas of browning should be looked into (not as brown as it looks in the photo). A small area of loss in a leaf motif mid right-hand side.

A very rare and exceptional Point d'Eeckent collar, Belgium, manufactured by the Minne-Dansaert House in Haeltert. This type of lace was first shown at the Paris Exhibition of 1900, and had a more Art Nouveau character by 1905. Point d'Eeckent (named after the town where Jenny Minne-Dansaert established a needlelace school), has an interesting floral design, and is especially notable for the slightly padded buttonholed accents used in the flowers in this piece.
