One seam, 59" from right end. All ends cut. Lots of reddish spots especially near left end.Occasional small holes in halfstitch,especially in the hanging flowers.

Val de Gand inserts inside a pieced lace border wtih some raised rings on halfstitch ground. Irregular picoted brides, single tally fillings. Excellent technique, although the design is a little strange.

The lace originally belonged to Mrs Adeane (Madeline Pamela Constance Blanche Wyndham, 1861 - 1941) who was one of the famously beautiful Wyndham sisters, their portrait was painted by John Singer Sargeant and hangs in the Met, New York.
