Prestwood Photograph

Notes from the photographer, Brian Chilton. I don't know who the lacemaker is. She is working on a large bolster pillow in a folding stand, with South Bucks bobbins.

This is a nice ORIGINAL 1960s b/w glossy photo showing a lace maker’s cushion and a card of handmade lace frill. This photo was taken in 1962 at Prestwood, Buckinghamshire when there were still a couple of traditional craft workers in the village. It is a small size photo, approx 4 x3 inches. It is very clean and in very good condition. I can vouch for the authenticity of this one as it was the first “commercial” picture I ever took, earning me the grand sum of 10/-d for this photo and negative which the lace maker wanted to use in the information sheets which she handed out at things like WI meetings and village shows. I kept a couple of the prints for my own photo reference collection.
