Pierre Dautel round medallion

French sculptor and medallist was born at Valenciennes in 1873. He studied sculpture and architecture at the École Académiques at Valenciennes and later studied sculpture at the École Nationale et Spéciale des Beaux Arts at Paris. He studied medal engraving under Henri Dubois. He won various awards during his distinguished career and was made a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur in 1929. Dautel died in 1954
