Delft Lacemaker

There is no maker’s mark on this piece, but there is a number, 2391 on the back in the upper open space of the chair. This figure is very beautiful; the glaze is so translucent that it is a bit hard to photograph. The modeling is excellent, and the scenes of windmills on her skirt apron are delightful. The pillow is too short to be practical, but the overall effect is wonderful. I don’t know the date of the piece, but guess early 20th century.

Another Delft lacemaker variation, not in my collection, is shown below. It has the same number carved in the back, and has the title "La Dentellière" on the base at the front.
