Adam K. Bert

Complete set of “First Day of Issue” postmarked and cancelled envelopes, addressed to Adam K. Bert.  Mr. Bert (Jan 13, 1905 – Feb 22, 2007) a famous stamp collector and dealer, maintained an office in Pittsburgh until 1996, which was the nation’s oldest first-day cover service. He popularized the collection of ‘bull’s-eye’ cancellations (of which these examples are not). He was the longest tenured member of the American Philatelic Society, having joined in 1926.  These five envelopes are of his #5 (5-1/2” x 3-1/8”) size.
