Artmaster

Complete set of “First Day of Issue” postmarks and cancellations unaddressed #6-3/4 (6-1/2" x 3-5/8") envelopes, produced by Artmaster. The blue lace cachets are taken from Caufeild & Saward’s “The Dictionary of needlework”, 1882, although the ‘Bucks point’ example first  appears in Palliser’s “A History of Lace”, fig. 130, labeled as ‘Buckinghamshire Trolly’. All of the envelopes have exactly the same statement printed on their reverse.

Founded by Bob and Mary Schmidt Artmaster issued its first cachet on May 9, 1946. The business is still owned by the family. The Brookman Cover Company, House of Farnam and Cover Craft cachets are all owned by Artmaster in Louisville, Ky.
