Pugh Cachets

One purple gown, and two white gown cachets, unaddressed #6-3/4 (6-1/2" x 3-5/8") envelopes by Julian F. Pugh, Pugh Cachets, PO Box 8789, The Woodlands, TX, 77387-8789. Web site at http://www.pughcachets.com. Apparently a husband and wife concern, Sharon and Julian Pugh have been producing FDCs for more than 25 years. Their mascot is a cartoon skunk. The extensive insert contained in each envelope gives a very detailed account of their production, and how it had to be changed because of the delay in the stamp issuance.

The purple gown is the earlier cachet, and this example is #15 of 58 produced. It has a “First Day of Issue” cancellation and postmark. (Pugh indicates ~70 of these were produced, so what form the others took is unknown. Probably a single postmark). The later white gown with the single postmark from Ypsilanti is #14 of 136 produced. The white gown with the postmark and cancellation is #4 of 10 produced.
