French Postcards

I have arranged the French lacemaker thumbnails by region, which generally keeps the type of equipment used together. The first two rows are examples from the Haute-Loire and Rhône districts. The third row cards are from Normandy. The fourth row contains Honfleur, Bailleul (which is close enough to Belgium to use the same equipment), Tignes freehand, and Miracourt. The last row has photos of lace, often combined with figures or landscapes, which are irritatingly complex to classify.

Obviously the lacemaker was a popular subject for postcard producers in France. Most are parts of sets, and there is no guarantee that lacemaking is the subject of the entire set. I have found information on some of the makers of these cards, but by no means all, among the hundreds listed in the Wikipedia article Éditeurs français de cartes postales.
